Significant Activities, abbreviated as SigActs, is a military term that refers to incidents occurring on a battlefield.
In today’s globalized economy, news and events transpiring around the world can have an impact on international supply chains and local public safety. SigActs.com is an attempt to identify and display the geographic relevance of news from around the globe.
SigActs is the brainchild of Sean Maday, a geospatial engineer at Google with a background in the U.S. defense and intelligence communities.
All of the event information from the extensive SigActs.com database is available as KML/KMZ and GeoRSS feeds, or as static shapefiles. If you require data in these formats, please contact us:

SigActs.com does not make any attempt to associate your specific identity to the types of events that you browse and search for. Unlike other global incident mapping websites, SigActs does not require any identifying username or password credentials to access our Google Map-based event information.
We only track website usage and map interactions in an anonymous and aggregated way, in an effort to improve the quality of the service that we provide. Again, we do not track you as an individual, or attempt to link your browsing habits to the organization that you represent.
